Minnesota Vikings
*Troy Williamson has been able to practice despite his sore shoulder and is expected to play Sunday against the Bears.
*Before getting too excited about Chester Taylor's 31 carries, remember that between preseason and week 1, his per carry average is under 3. And for week 1 it was 2.8. True, he did manage to find the end zone, but if he can't run to daylight more often, backs like Faison and Moore might get more opportunities.
*Have wasted their time signing Eagles cast off Todd Pinkston. The Eagles receivers were considered thin (no pun intended). It doesn't make sense to sign the guy THEY consider least valuable.
*In other Vikings news, has everyone noticed that Chester Taylor is gaining less than 3 yards per carry?
*The team announced that Koren Robinson has been released; from the team, not the sheriff's office. Needless to say it will be a long time before he is on a football field again. Unless he is drunk driving and happens to park on one.
*In addition to drunk driving, Koren Robinson faces charges of fleeing law enforcement. According to NFL insiders, they don't need to wait for a conviction before they act. Robinson is said to be in a lot of trouble and it's going to take some very hard work by his representatives to get him out of this one. It's a shame, too, because this guy had all the talent. We had even stopped calling him Karen. Right now it looks like Travis Taylor will fill the void on the starting lineup. Look for Troy Williamson to benefit greatly as the go to guy.
*Koren Robinson Arrested for DUI: KoRo was caught driving drunk late Tuesday night. An investigation is on-going and Robinson is said to be facing multiple charges as well as a possible 1 year suspension from the NFL for substance abuse violations. The question is, who will replace him in the starting lineup. All logic points to Travis Taylor right now. It's time to redo the receiver cheat sheets everywhere. Thanks to Mike for pointing this out to us.
*Chester Taylor is showing no signs of slowing down despite an injured groin. With an upgraded offensive line and Priest Holmes/Larry Johnson's fullback in front of him, he has a chance to be a monster.
*Troy Williamson has been impressive at camp. Don't forget he is the one drafted last year to replace Randy Moss, so the skill set exists, at least to be a productive starter.
*More news out of Minnesota that Chester Taylor takes over as the starting back. The job is his to lose in preseason.
*Final word - Robinson denies checking in to a rehab clinic and claims he is doing very well with his problems. Good news for Koren. We expect him to lead Vikings receivers this year.
*Update on Koren Robinson. He apparently did not relapse, but is just reinforcing his coping skills prior to his wedding and the opening of camp in July according to an interview with Robinson on KFAN.
*Koren Robinson has checked back into rehab. This throws the receiver rankings way off as there is no way to know just yet how serious the new problem is, and whether or not a suspension may follow.
*Chester Taylor is your starting back. Ciatrick Faison will be the change of pace back and Mewelde Moore will come in on 3rd downs. Stay clear of this situation, unless you take a later round flyer on Taylor in production leagues.
*Just a heads up to look out for TE Jermaine Wiggins who could stand to benefit greatly from the new West Coast offense. He's averaged 70 catches per year over the last 2, so an increase would make him a very valuable tight end. Talk about value...
