Seattle Seahawks

*Look for Jerramy Stevens to return after the by week.  No word yet on Shaun Alexander

*Shaun Alexander is out for at least the next 2 weeks with a small fracture in his left foot.  Maurice Morris will start in his place at Chicago, then the Seahawks are on the by.  Alexander may be able to return for the St. Louis game on October 15.

*Deion Branch is expected to start against the Giants.  Great news for Hasselbeck and Darrell Jackson as defensive backs will not be able to focus on stopping him alone.  Bobby Engram will continue to work out of the slot.

*Shaun Alexander is listed as probable with a sore foot.  Holmgren admits that Alexander is in pain and has given him time off from practice, but for the record says he'll play.

*Deion Branch is expected to be deactivated for the next two weeks in order to learn the offense.  When he returns, he'll start opposite Darrell Jackson.

*The trade was approved by New England to send Deion Branch to Seattle for a first round pick in 2007.  Darrell Jackson should remain the go to guy in the offense, but branch's presence spells doom for the value of Nate Burleson.  Bobby Engram retains some value as a #3.  I'm curious to see how this effects Shaun Alexander, as the Seahawks may become more dangerous from the 20 and out, leaving fewer goal line opportunities.  At the same time, defenses will have to be very honest and cannot overplay the run.  Burleson is out because he's had trouble understanding the playbook.  In all likelihood, Branch won't have that trouble and should be starting by week 3 or 4.

*Darrell Jackson has looked good in practice and could start.  He's expected to play in 1/2 of the Seahawks' offensive plays.

*Darrell Jackson has been listed as probable for Sunday , but no word on whether or not he will start or how much he will play.  We really like Bobby Engram this week to be the Seahawks' leading receiver.

*Darrell Jackson is expected to play on Sunday, but the extent is still not known.  In fact, we believe Mike Holmgren will play this one by ear and judging by what he sees on the field.  The bottom line is not to count too heavily on Jackson in week 1, and Bobby Engram might be a nice sleeper as he stands to benefit heavily from receiving out of the slot and filling in for Jackson.

*Darrell Jackson has finally been able to practice and may start against Detroit in the season opener.  This is a difficult position for Jackson owners as you'd love to have him against Detroit's porous pass defense, but at the same time he might only get on the field a handful of times. We'll keep watching this one closely for you.

*What does it tell you about Darrell Jackson's health that the Seahawks are interested in acquiring Deion Branch?  Jackson has remained unable to practice and remains iffy for the start of the season.

*Darrell Jackson claims he'll be ready for week 1.  But how good can he be with no training camp?  He's been out because of surgery to repair torn cartilage.  We've moved him down our draft board significantly because of the questions regarding his knees.  Bobby Engram moves up.

*Darrell Jackson owners have to be worried that he has been so far unable to practice.  Jackson owners should strongly consider adding Bobby Engram.  The talented 3rd string receiver was Hasselbeck's favorite target last season and looked very good in preseason action against the colts in Jackson's absence.

*Don't forget about Bobby Engram.  He announced that he was playing for the starting position he deserves.  He has Matt Hasslebeck's confidence.  And if you've seen any preseason action, Hasselbeck loves to throw to him out of the slot position.

*Jerramy Stevens was carted off the field after suffering a torn meniscus.  The initial prognosis is 6 weeks, but typically, these things take longer, especially with larger frames to support.  Itula Mili defaults to the top tight end with Stevens out, but keep in mind Mili is coming off injury as well.

*Jerramy Stevens should be ready for next week's preseason game.  He has been missing time because of a knee injury.

*Darrell Jackson will miss the next 3 weeks while on a program to strengthen his quadriceps to help prevent further injury.  I've never heard of anything like this.  Sounds like there is more to it than they are admitting.

*Bobby Engram is telling anyone who will listen that he wants a fair shot at the starting receiver position opposite Darrell Jackson.  Last year he developed a very good on field relationship with Matt Hasselbeck.  Nate Burleson is the favorite to win the starting job, though.

*Jerramy Stevens has been able to walk without crutches and expects to be able to return by August.  Missing camp won't help, but he's been around long enough that he should not lose much from last year.
