Jacksonville Jaguars

*Matt Jones has taken a back seat to Reggie Williams as the top receiver in Jacksonville.  Word is that Jones' injuries are what is slowing him down, but we hear that Williams was coming on as the top receiver going into the season and the injuries were incidental.

*Matt Jones has been unable to practice and is questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts.  although he is expected to play, he could be a game time decision.  If he is out, Reggie Williams becomes that much more valuable.

*Matt Jones will start at on receiver spot, but coach Jack Del Rio is still undecided about the other one.  So much so that he listed both Reggie Williams and Ernest Wilford as starters, even though he admits only one of them will start.  Good news for Williams, bad for Wilford who most expected would have the starting job.

*With Greg Jones done for the year, Derrick Wimbush most likely will take over as the starting fullback.  It remains to be seen if Wimbuh or Labarndon Toefield will get goal line carries, but it looks like Taylor still will not.

*Greg Jones may be done for the year with a torn ACL.  Move Maurice Jones-Drew up your draft board quickly as he will no longer have to compete for the #2 job.

*Marcedes Lewis will not play anymore this preseason, but it's only precautionary.  We expect Lewis to have the type of season that Alex Smith of the Buccaneers had last year.

*Don't look now, but here comes Reggie Williams challenging Ernest Wilford for a starting spot.  We still expect Wilford to win the job since Williams has been criticized for a lack of speed, but be wary about selecting Wilford too soon.

*Greg Jones has also been somewhat impressive, but not as elusive as Drew.  as of now, Jones is still #2.  After this past weekend against Miami, Drew might have overtaken Jones.

*Maurice Drew has been the most impressive back at camp so far this summer.  He should overtake Greg Jones as #2 soon, and with only Fred Taylor ahead of him, Drew could contribute significantly this year.  Move on him in keeper leagues.

*Update on the receiver spot.  Looks like Wilford is number 1 right now with Matt Jones lagging a little.  Stay tuned...

*Reranking the receivers.  With Jimmy Smith out of the picture, Matt Jones moved to #1.  but he hasn't developed as well as Jack del Rio wanted, so Ernest Wilford, who has improved by leaps and bounds, is competing with him.  Reggie Williams is at #3 and sliding, mostly because of his lack of speed and the fact that he has yet to assert himself.

*Despite missing all of the optional camps, Fred Taylor is being called a "man on a mission" by head coach Jack Del Rio.  Taylor claims to be 100% healthy and Del Rio states that the running game is going to be stressed this year,

*Charges against RB Maurice Drew have been dropped due to lack of evidence.  Drew could overtake Fred Taylor as the top back in Jacksonville this season or next.

*For those of you who are curious, Byron Leftwich has purchased 2 motorcycles.

*A big heads up here - as we predicted, Matt Jones is moving into the #1 receiver role.  He's 6'6" and has great hands with good speed.  He could have a huge year if he has developed from his rookie season.  Reggie Williams is right now #2 and Ernest Wilford is #3.
