Dallas Cowboys

*Who knows what the truth is about Owens trip to the emergency room?  All I know is that he is claiming he'll be able to contribute in Tennessee.  We'll know more Sunday morning.

*Reports out of Dallas say that Terrell Owens attempted suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills.  If this is accurate, he may be out of the lineup for a while.  Footballguys.com is reporting that Rookie Sam Hurd will start in his place while he is out, though we expect Patrick Crayton to get plenty of opportunities as well.

*The cowboys are on a by this week.  Bill Parcells stated that Julius Jones will not see 20 carries again any time soon.  He wants to work Marion Barber and Tyson Thompson in more often.

*Terrell Owens will miss the next 2-4 weeks with a broken ring finger in his right hand.  Terry Glenn's value increases greatly.  Patrick Crayton should get the start in Owen's absence.

*The Dallas Cowboys are not going to last very long in the NFC East if Drew Bledsoe continues to play like he did in the 2nd half against Jacksonville.  They will lose close games and TO will start to chatter about the inaccuracy of his quarterback.  Then all bets are off.  Don't keep Tony Romo too far off of your radar, because the Redskins are up next for the Cowboys and following the bye, 2 weeks on the road including a trip to Philadelphia.  The Cowboys could be 1-3 by week 5.  Romo could be in there sooner than you think.

*Mike Vanderjagt is listed as questionable.  I'm not crazy about his as hid leg hurts and we hear his confidence is shaken after his miss against Pittsburgh in the playoffs last year.

*Mike Vanderjagt is on shaky grounds with the Cowboys after struggling this preseason with a groin injury.  Parcells claims to have not considered cutting him, but if his troubles continue into the season and possibly costs Dallas a game, Parcells must act.  He's not known for infinite patience.

*Drew Bledsoe reports feeling better and will be ready for the season opener.  If you really believe in the Dallas' passing game this year, handcuff Tony Romo.

*Drew Bledsoe suffered a shot to the head last night against the Vikings and appears to have a concussion.  Tony Romo takes over.  Keep an eye on Blesdoe because with those weapons he was due a big year.  Now it could be Romo's year depending on Bledsoe's health.

*Mike Vanderjagt has returned to practice for the Cowboys.  Put him back on your radar.

*Terrell Owens has been fined $9,500 for missing one team meeting and being late to another.  Those of you reading in Philadelphia dn San Francisco are screaming "we told you so!"  The time bomb continues to tick.  When will it go off?

*One thing is for certain - Terry Glenn looks good; very good.  We have him in our top 20 BEFORE the outstanding effort against San Fran.  If Dallas is smart, they waive TO today and rely on Glenn and Jason Witten to catch passes.

*Terrell Owens re-aggravated his hamstring and will probably continue to miss time until the season starts.  Don't forget, hamstring injuries are something that can't be rushed.  It is definitely one of those injuries that will be worse if you push it.  And because of the media scrutiny, Owens was rushed back from the injury and now seems to be paying for it.   This injury could linger well into the season.  Move Owens down if you haven't already and give Terry Glenn a big boost as the only top receiver currently working with Cowboys quarterbacks.  Plus he looked great on Monday night.

*After Monday's performance AND based on Jerry Jones' halftime statement, Drew Bledsoe is the quarterback.  Bledsoe has talent throwing the ball and when Owens gets back he's got 2 world class targets.  Bledsoe is definitely a starter in bigger leagues.

*Kicker Mike Vanderjagt missed the game with a pulled groin - a bad injury for a kicker.  watch next week's game to see if Vandy come back strong.

*We've all heard that Tony Romo might supplant Drew Bledsoe as the starting quarterback in Dallas.  I understand the logic behind the decision, but what kind of back up will Bledsoe be?  I can't imagine he'd sit back quietly.  He and Owens might form a support group and tear this team apart in the papers.  But if there is one man who can hold it together, it's Parcells.  Like TO said, buckle your seatbelts.

*T.O. Has got the pads on and is practicing with the rest of the team instead of doing a Floyd Landis impersonation.  Parcells claims that T.O. must look ready to play before he gets into a preseason game.  In my opinion, there has been a lot of hype about nothing.  But the intense media scrutiny has taken it's toll on the coach and most likely some teammates.  I've seen quite a few polls that have TO #1 Fantasy receiver.  He's top 5 maybe, but the odds of a meltdown are too much to make him #1.

*Coach Bill Parcells states that Marion Barber will be a major factor in the offense this year.  Terrible news for Jones owners.  Parcells is hinting that the 2 backs will split time.

*We know...TO is missing practice.  Even though it's not a big deal, the press is making it a big deal.  and knowing TO as I do, he loves the attention, even when it's negative.  But the rest of the team may be beginning their resentment of him now.  There is always the possibility of a meltdown with this guy.  And just like I told you last summer how Andy Reid doesn't put up with crap, Parcells is the same way.  Whatever happens, it won't be dull.

*The big question is big D is the offensive line.  Parcells plans to run a lot of 2 tight end sets to offset inexperience up front.  The passing game will boost from TO pulling coverage his way, so a tight end can stay in and help block.

*DallasCowboys.com is reporting that Marion Barber will be the third down back.  I don't like situations where the starting back comes out on a regular basis.

*Julius Jones remains the starter in Dallas, but Marion Barber is a favorite of coach Parcells and should not be written off.  If Jones fails to come through again this season, look for the Cowboys to make a move such as drafting a back in the first round again.
