Kansas City Chiefs

*Trent Green will sit again this weekend suffering from effects of his concussion suffered week 1.  Indications are that he will need at least 2 more weeks.

*The Chiefs are on the by this week.  Trent Green is still suffering from the effects of the hit and it looks like he will miss significantly more than the 'at least 2 weeks' officially reported.

*Trent Green was released from the hospital on Tuesday after suffering severe head trauma against the Bengals.  Green will miss at least the next two weeks and possibly more.  Damon Huard starts in Green's absence.  Look for the Chiefs to rely even more heavily on Johnson and Gonzalez.

*Trent green will miss this upcoming week's game and no telling what's going on after that.  a big blow for Chiefs offensive players, especially Larry Johnson who will see some stacked lines until Damon Huard proves himself capable.  Good news for Tony Gonzalez, though, as Huard will most likely lean on him.

*Remember the panic button we have on Larry Johnson?  Well, he just lost a starting offensive lineman to a high ankle sprain.  Do you think he was successful last year because of magic, or a talented offensive line creating big holes for him?  And don't forget Tony Richardson.

*Priest Holmes will remain on PUP.  Write him off for this year.

*Giant red flags are waiving on roof tops for me about the Chiefs offense and Larry Johnson in particular.  I watched him in college very closely (PSU Alum) and while I was impressed, I didn't see OJ Simpson, Walter Payton or Reggie Bush.  He succeeded because of a sound run blocking scheme (the same one Chicago uses that made Thomas Jones look like a star), a very good blocking fullback and a talented offensive line.  The scheme is changed.  The fullback is gone to Minnesota and the offensive line lost Willie Roaf.  In the second preseason game, Johnson was met in the backfield quite often rather than running through gaping hopes.  I've hated what I've seen so far, despite mostly good reports from camp. As a team they are averaging around 3 yards per carry in the preseason.

*The Chiefs acquired Michael Bennett from the Saints.  This tells us 2 things - Holmes will most likely not be back, and the Chiefs didn't think Dee brown had what it took to be a starter if Johnson goes down.  I like Bennett in this offense better than the Viking offense.

*Still no official word regarding Priest Holmes, but most likely he is done.  He has still not been medically cleared to play or even practice.  The biggest item to watch will be who emerges as Larry Johnson's backup.  That person becomes a great handcuff.
