Tampa Bay Buccaneers
*Chris Simms is out for 6 - 8 weeks after having his spleen removed following the loss to the Carolina Panthers. Bruce Gradkowski will replace Simms unless the Bucs make a move for another quarterback.
*Carnell Williams states that his back has not been a problem, but admits that he has to keep moving on the sidelines or it will tighten up. This does not sound like good news. Put him on your bench for now unless you have no other option.
*It might not be time to panic over Carnell Williams, but things are not looking up. A sketchy pass offense and depleted offensive line have certainly hurt Williams' performance, but keep in mind that the schedule lightens up from here. No, wait, they have a desperate 0-2 Carolina coming to town. If you have a Carnell option, you might want to break it out.
*Carnell Williams was held out of practice on Thursday, but he is expected to start as usual on Sunday. He has been experiencing back spasms.
*According to Jon Gruden, Carnell williams suffered back spasms during the Falcon game and was therefore limited.
*Acquired TE Doug Jolley from the NY Jets. I think this is a statement about depth rather than a stab at Alex Smith. This trade should not effect value.
*Joey Galloway does not look like he missed a step from last year, and Michael Clayton looks healthy. They are poised to have very good years. This means Chris Simms is poised for a big year, also.
*Gruden has also said some good things about Chris Simms; most importantly that he is now 'getting it' referring to the complexity of the offense. Simms may be a very good late round value pick.
*Jon Gruden has spent a lot of time recently talking up receiver Michael Clayton. Keep an eye on him as a potentially nice backup on your team this year. If he can stay healthy, he's very talented.
*Rookie TE TJ Williams will be out this season after tearing his Achilles tendon.
