If you listen very carefully, you can still hear Brett Favre's final pass
quacking like the duck it was. It reminded me of the overtime loss to
the Eagles a few years ago, when Favre launched a deep ball to Donald Driver
who was double covered at the time. It wasn't close. Within 4
plays the game was over. In fact his career is marked by bad
interceptions at the wrong time. So why is he considered a great
quarterback? Lots of touchdowns and a super bowl win. Dan Marino
was a great quarterback who didn't have a super bowl win. But in
fairness, it was never his fault his team didn't get there after his rookie
year.The fact is that
Brett probably caused almost as much damage to his team as any quarterback
ever did. But he was always exciting. He is a warrior.
He's also a very nice guy. He's a natural for the media. No such
thing as bad press for him.
Despite the bad interceptions
at the wrong times, he's still someone I'd want on my team. I guess
the occasional heartbreak is the price you pay.
